GCC condemns attack on Jordanian intelligence office
RIYADH, 6th June 2016 (WAM) --- The Cooperation Council for Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) has condemned, in the strongest terms, an attack on an office of the Jordanian General Intelligence Directorate (GID) at a refugee camp near the capital, Amman.
In a statement, Secretary-General of the GCC, Dr. Abdullatif Al Zayani, described the attack, in which five Jordanian intelligence officers were killed, as a terrorist crime that is in violation of all human principles, values and ethics.
He stressed that the GCC members back whatever security measures Jordan takes to protect the security and safety of citizens and expatriates on its territory.
Al Zayani said he was confident that the Jordanian security services will be able to expose the perpetrators of this cowardly criminal act and those who provoked them.
The incident was confirmed by the country's minister of media affairs, Mohammed al-Momani, who said it took place at an office in the Baqa'a refugee camp just before 7am (4am GMT) on Monday morning.
