DUBAI, 6th June, 2016 (WAM) -- The Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, is launching a series of Ramadan events as part its social responsibility and keenness to cement communication links as well as the sense of compassion between all community members.

"RTA is keen to hold several prominent events marking the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan in a bid to foster a positive atmosphere amongst employees on the one hand, and cement bonds with community members, on the other. These efforts are manifested through engaging all parties in events we hold and inviting them to sponsor these events with the aim of diffusing the culture of volunteering besides cementing occupational links," said Moza Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, RTA Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector.

She added, "This Ramadan, RTA will hold several internal and external events as well as other initiatives on social media channels. External events include, for the sixth time in a row, the Charity Bus initiative where two buses, 'Bus Al Khair' and 'Meals on Wheels', would be deployed on a daily basis to distribute a total of 3,000 Iftar meals to commuters at metro and bus stations in collaboration with Beit Al Khair Society.

"The RTA will also take part in Zayed Humanitarian Day, involving the distribution of Ramadan charitable supplies to 300 disadvantaged families in Dubai. For the third year running, RTA is supporting the Safe Ramadan campaign held by Al Ihsan Charity Association by participating in the distribution of Ramadan Iftar meals to motorists just before Maghreb Athan with the aim of curbing excessive speed and resultant crashes, which fits well with the theme of our 'Ramadan Without Accidents' campaign," continued Al Marri.

"The RTA is also lending support to the Dubai International Holy Quran Award by allocating two VIP buses to carry contestants, judging panel, scholars and guests of the award from their residences to the venue of the Award and back, to ease their mobility," she added.
