ABU DHABI, 6th June, 2016 (WAM) -- A UAE newspaper has said that the special Holy Month of Ramadan brings with it a unique spiritual exhilaration, as this is the time of the year when noble qualities of humanity like peace, forgiveness, charity and inner strength gain extra significance.

The Holy Month is known as a month of action and hope, a period of giving and caring. Hence, Ramadan is a blessed period for the people in the UAE as the country ceaselessly provides humanitarian capital and gains the attention of millions of people by being a major relief station for the poor worldwide.

"This is a trait that emanates from the legacy chalked out by the Father of the Nation, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and noble Islamic values," said The Gulf Today in an editorial on Monday.

"Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has launched a special Ramadan campaign in the UAE that aims to provide 5 million books for children in refugee camps and students in under-privileged schools across the world.

"The campaign will distribute two million books to children and students in refugee camps, in addition to creating 2,000 libraries in schools in need around the world by providing two million books and the rest will be available to support educational programmes of Emirati humanitarian organisations working abroad.

"Various organisations have also completed preparations to implement seasonal Ramadan projects. For example, two million people in the country are expected to benefit from the Iftar meal project of The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation during the Holy Month of Ramadan, while more than 700,000 will benefit in 60 Arab and Muslim countries around the world.

"Three million people across the UAE and in 63 countries worldwide will benefit from the Emirates Red Crescent's Ramadan programmes, including Iftar, Zakat, Eid clothing and Mir Ramadan.

"The Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Charity Foundation, Ajman, has launched this year's campaign under the title, 'Charity will increase your money', for the sixth year in a row. The foundation will carry out six charitable projects for the benefit of the needy individuals and families in the Emirate of Ajman.

"As Sheikh Mohammed himself mentioned this year, the UAE has moved from feeding the hungry and quenching thirst to nurturing the mind and the soul."

The Sharjah-based daily concluded by saying, "The UAE will thus always remain a beacon of charity through serving Muslims across the world with modern tools that spread knowledge."
