UAE- Muslims urged to sight Ramadan Crescent today

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called on all Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the Crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan today, Sunday evening, Shaaban 29, 1437 AH, corresponding to June 05, 2016.

Saudi Press Agency, SPA, reported that whoever sees the Crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan by naked eyes or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register his testimony, or report to the authority of the region's centre in his area where he sighted the Crescent in order to facilitate his reaching to the nearest court.

Ramadan moon-sighting committee formed in UAE

Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Justice, has issued a decision, setting up the moon-sighting committee for the Holy Month of Ramadan for the Hijri year 1436.

The committee will meet after the Maghrib prayer on the 29th of Shaaban or June 5 at the Judiciary Department in Abu Dhabi.

The committee, chaired by Al Badi, comprises of Mohammed bin Hamad Al Badi, undersecretary of the ministry; Yousof Saeed Al Abri, undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department; and a number of other senior officials.

The decision called on all Shariah courts in the country to look out for the moon and inform the committee.

Difficult to sight moon in Oman

The sighting of moon would be difficult today after the sunset in Oman, according to the astronomical calculations of the Astronomical Affairs Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

As the rise of moon after the sunset will be for a very small time, it will be diffcult to sight it, the moon sighting main committee members were quoted as saying in a Times of Oman report.

The main committee for the moon sighting for the month of Ramadan 1437H, will meet, on Sunday.
