New Delhi, Sha'ban 29, 1437, Jun 5, 2016, SPA -- Seventeen people were killed and more than 35
injured when a bus rammed into two cars and then turned over into a
ravine Sunday on a highway near Mumbai, dpa cited police as saying.
The cars had stopped along the side of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway when the bus carrying nearly 50 passengers rammed them, an offical at the Navi Mumbai police control room said.
All three vehicles plunged into the 6-metre ditch, police said.
Seventeen people including six women and a six-month-old baby were killed on the spot. Most were passengers on the bus. Some injured victims were in critical condition, the official said.
According to preliminary investigations, the bus driver failed to see the tail lights of the cars due to early morning mist, police sources said.
