6.5 Quake Hits off Sumatra Coast

Washington: A strong 6.5 earthquake hit the western Indonesian island of Sumatra on Thursday.

The epicenter of the quake was about 40km (25 miles) from the coast, according to the US Geological Survey.

There were no reports of damage or injuries recorded.
