Saudi foreign remittances fall by 12 percent


(MENAFN) Foreign remittances dropped by 8.3 percent to USD 3.17bn in April, compared to USD 3.46bn in the cited month a year eariler.

Moreover, payments among the first quarter of 2016 amounted to USD 13.19bn, a decline of 4 percent from USD 13.75bn over the same period of last year.

In addition, 8.7mn expatriates recently work in the private sector, 720,000 local workers and 72,000 in the public sector.

Saudi Arabia population was 31.52mn people at the end of 2015, growth of almost 2.4 percent from 2014.
