Qatar- Customs officials seize 5kg of gold

DOHA: The General Authority of Customs at Hamad International Airport (HIA) seized 5kg of gold from an Asian passenger who tried to hide it inside his bag.

The passenger disclosed to inspectors of having some quantity of gold in his bag, but the inspector who grew suspicious transferred the person for further inspection. It was found that the person was hiding five pieces of gold weighing 5kg in secret pockets inside the bag to avoid customs fees.

Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, honoured the inspector, stressing on continuing the efforts for protecting the country’s security.

Bakery shut down

DOHA: Al Shamal Municipality inspectors shut down a bakery in Industrial Area for seven days for preparing food in unhealthy conditions.

The closure came during inspection conducted by the municipality inspectors before Ramadan to be sure that food outlets are meet the health standards.
