Iran to enforce strangling bans on messaging apps

(MENAFN) Companies behind popular messaging apps have a year to move all the data they have on Iranian users onto servers in Iran, Thus escalating worries about privacy.

The Iranian government wants to be able to track private and semi-private conversations on messaging apps; hence many social networks are already blocked in the country.

In particular, applications like WhatsApp and Telegram have become incredibly popular in the Republic, and the government basically has no control over what is said on these platforms.

However, like in other nations with Internet bans, there are ways to engage in social network and messaging platforms, such as installing a VPN tool so that Iranian ISPs can't see you're browsing these sites.
