American cleared in insult case

In another case, the State Security Circuit cleared American suspect Diana Ayman Al Kut of the charges brought against her.

Diana was accused of insulting, defaming and offending the UAE and its symbols.

"Based on the medical report issued by the psychiatric diseases section at Khalifa hospital, and due to substantiating that she was not responsible for her acts when the crime of insult, defamation and offence happened, she is found not guilty," the judge read out the ruling.

However, the court ordered the American be deported.

The court also acquitted four other Libyans two of whom hold the US nationality of the charges levelled against them. The four Libyan accused were businessmen based in the UAE for years.

They were accused of joining Libya's February 17 Brigade, which is affiliated to Libya's Muslim brotherhood group.

Yet, the judge has not ruled any deportation of those walked free.

In a second case, the court ordered suspect Omran Hassan Ahmed Al Raessi and suspect Omran Mubarak Mabkhout Al Ketbi to be remanded in a counselling centre run by the Ministry of the Interior and ordered the duo be banned for travelling for a period of six months.

The court ordered 18-year-old Emirati suspect Moza Mohammad Ahmed Saeed Al Abdooli, a woman, to be handed over to her guardian and the seizure of the electronic devices which she used in committing the crime of insult, defamation and offence that the public prosecution brought against her. The court ordered also the suspect's accounts on Twitter and Facebook be closed down.

In a third case in which suspect A.S is accused of offending, insulting and defaming the FNC and its members, the court ordered the case be reheard on June 13.

The court also reviewed a number of other cases including that of a spy ring for Lebanese Hezbollah group in which seven people are accused, including two Emirati citizens.

The suspects were accused of supplying the Iran's Revolutionary Guards officers and Hezbollah's agents with critical military information and maps showing the oil and gas fields in Abu Dhabi.

Two attorneys defending the first Emirati accused H.S.S.H. pleaded not guilty and demanded the acquittal of their client.

The lawyers told the court that the military information about the UAE army's deals were all available at the defence exhibition and in its daily bulletin as well as the daily newspapers.

The court deferred the case to June 6 for the rest of the pleadings.
