Dubai TV to telecast Quran award sessions daily

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Channels network will telecast live the daily sessions of the 20th Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) this Ramadan.

The award, founded and sponsored by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will have special celebrations for the 20th anniversary.

Ahmed Al Zahid, head of DIHQA media unit, said a special satellite channel has also been launched to broadcast the events at different timings to suit the audience worldwide.

"The Noor Dubai TV and Sama Dubai TV will keep telecasting the programmes on a daily basis. The DIHQA media unit is to produce a daily video briefing on the daily activities."

The daily footage includes interviews with scholars, guests and co-sponsors of the award.

A full-fledged media centre equipped with all modern facilities has also been prepared to facilitate the work of media people, Al Zahid added.

Al Zahid said that the door is still open for application in the all new standard Arabic poetry contest which has been initiated this year to mark the 20th anniversary of the DIHQA.

"A special documentary book on the 20th anniversary celebrations of the award will be issued this year."

Now the DIHQA has official channels on social media, spanning Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Blackberry.

"All the award activities will be streamed live on smart cell phones and tablets through the telecommunications operators Etisalat and du as part of their sponsorship of the global competition."

Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Head of DIHQA Organising Committee and Adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs, said the award, which started with two sections now has 13 categories and is expected to see the participation of 160 countries over its 20-year history.
