UAE- 'Man, high on drugs, passes out in car'

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Court of First Instance was told that a man parked his car at a petrol station and remained there unconscious after taking drugs and consuming alcohol.
The 29-year-old Emirati defendant's toxicology tests showed he had taken hashish and consumed alcohol prior to his arrest on March 21 by Al Rashidiya police and Anti-Narcotics officers.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges in court. He claimed he was coerced into confession in the questioning.
"We received a report about a man suspected to be high on drugs in his car at a petrol station on Ras Al -Khor road," an Anti-Narcotics police officer said.
The officers tried to talk to the defendant, who was then lying in the back seat, but in vain.
"We could not find the car's keys. So we had to push the car aside".
A quantity of hashish weighing more than half a kilo of hashish was allegedly found in his possession.
48 pills of narcotics were also seized from him.
The defendant has also been accused of giving a false name when questioned by the police. He allegedly used his brother's name.
The court will hand down a verdict on June 29.
