Oman- First batch of National CEO Program graduates

The graduation ceremony of the first batch of 30 National CEO Program (NCP) participants was held on Monday under the auspices of H E Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court.

Dr Khamis bin Saud bin Said al Toobi, director general of administrative development and acting director general of Competencies Development Institute said, 'We are celebrating today the graduation of the first batch of 30 participants after an enriching 12-month educational journey.'

The programme also announced the 35 participants of the second batch, representing different sectors and governorates in the sultanate, to achieve the Royal Vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for human resources development and preparing national leaders able to make a difference in the competitiveness of the sultanate and to contribute to its development march.

The selection process by an independent specialised institution took place in accordance with the set criteria and lasted from March to May. The new batch of NCP will see participants representing key areas including manufacturing, logistics, transportation and other strategic sectors. NCP received applications from small, medium and large businesses from nine governorates.

Dr Ali bin Jassim bin Jawad al Lawati, advisor of studies and research at the Diwan of Royal Court and chairman of the Advisory Committee of NCP, said, 'We believe that the selected participants will be able to bring about a radical change in their sectors, contribute to the growth of their organisations and increase their competitiveness. They will be considered among the elite leaders of relevant sectors of economic and strategic importance for the country.'

Lynn Sadler, director of NCP said, 'The selection of participants for the second batch comprised tests and interviews to determine the level of competencies, carried out by independent assessors from leading global institutions in the field of management consulting. This is an important platform from which to prepare Omani CEOs of global standards, so the efficiency of the selection process is a very important thing.'

The National CEO Program was launched by a working team for partnership between the public and private sectors. The programme is run by Competencies Development Institute at the Diwan of Royal Court.

The programme has been developed through a strategic partnership with the International Institute for Management Development which ranks among the finest institutions in the world for business management. The strategic educational journey of the NCP provides latest educational concepts in leadership and research, coupled with individual and group orientation programmes, as well as interaction with a wide array of Omani business owners.

Moreover, the curricula offers high-quality educational methods that address topics in financial and strategic management, institution leadership and change, in addition to the practical sessions that include working on a variety of projects.
