Oman- MSM30 drops 0.88% as activity rises

The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) witnessed selling pressure on Monday as the benchmark index fell by 0.88 per cent to close at 5,838.56 points.

However, trading activity was boosted as turnover and volumes surged by 94.63 per cent and 143 per cent to RO4.71mn and 23.5mn shares, respectively.

Out of total 41 traded stocks, only one stock closed up while 22 stocks closed down and 18 remained unchanged at the end of the trading session.

All three sub-indices closed in red territory with Financial index ending lower by 1.05 per cent. Services index closed lower by 0.76 per cent while Industrial index closed down by 0.40 per cent. The MSM Shariah index decreased by 0.36 per cent.

The single gainer on the bourse was Sovereign Sukuk Issue 1 (+1.22 per cent), while among top decliners were Oman and Emirates Investment Holding (-4.93 per cent), Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding (-4.76 per cent) and Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing (-4.56 per cent).
