The centre provides occupational screening for 15 job categories for people who wish to get a certification according to the requirement of their profession.

The new centre can handle 2,500 customers per day and operates from Sunday to Thursday from 7.30am to 2.30pm.

The centre will cater to the needs of the emirate of Dubai as a whole.

The centre provides occupational screening for 15 job categories for people who wish to get a certification according to the requirement of their profession.

Getting an occupational certification is mandatory by some employers in the public and private sector in Dubai.

"Dubai is on one of the fastest growing cities in the world, this drives the DHA to join the city's movement towards progression by providing first class medical services that meet the growth and development of the city," said Al Qatami.

Maisa Al Bustani, director of the Medical Fitness Services Department at DHA said the medical tests at the centre include physical tests, blood tests and x-rays, to name a few.

"Each person will be required to take certain tests according to the category his or her profession falls in, for example if you fall in the agricultural or construction worker category you would require different tests than let's say a beautician," she said.

Al Bustani, however, said the average number of tests is four to five and costs range Dh300 to Dh900 depending on the required tests.

The centre's facilities include six consultation rooms, X-ray rooms, blood collection rooms and a blood-processing lab among others.

She added that the centre offers the latest medical services, using the latest technology and is home to experienced staff.

"The inauguration of Uptown centre comes in line with the authority's new strategy to expand its services geographically to reach people all over Dubai and provide them with the best medical services available," said Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, CEO, Hospital Services Sector, DHA.
