Gulf media has become united, says Information Minister of Bahrain

MANAMA, 30th May, 2016 (WAM) -- Bahrain's Information Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development's Board of Trustees, has said the Gulf media has now become united.

The Bahrain News Agency, BNA, said that the minister was speaking on the sidelines of a seminar organised by the BIPD on Sunday themed, "Security and political challenges in the Gulf states". Al Rumaihi told Bahrain News Agency, BNA, that coordination among the Gulf media agencies has gone beyond the phase of correspondence on to the phase of open media intercommunication.

He added that the media discourse among GCC countries is attuned in confronting the challenges facing the region and there are bigger executive steps being undertaken between the media agencies of the GCC.

"As long as communication among the Gulf media agencies remains constant and ongoing, the faster will be the implementation steps," said Al Rumaihi. "The whole world now addresses the GCC states as a single state which is a substantial reality with all international media corporations now treating the GCC media agencies as a single agency," he added.

He affirmed that the BIPD always undertakes its basic role of spreading political awareness in the Bahraini community, praising the large attendance of this seminar and excellent public attendance at the various functions it organises.

He lauded the level of discussion during the seminar which he described as logical. He said the subject of security and political challenges facing the GCC states is the subject of the current hour. There is an Arab and Gulf awareness of the significance of the media in confronting such challenges and everybody realises the importance of the media especially under the present circumstances in the region.

The Minister also praised the amount of interaction between the attending public and speakers at the seminar on security and political challenges in the Gulf states, which he said "creates the sort of political awareness that serves our ultimate goals."
