Kuwait- Auctioning maids?

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The month of Ramadan is just around the corner but the business of trafficking in humans seems to be flourishing during this holy month, particularly business related to recruiting domestic helpers, reports Al-Rai daily.

Because there is shortage of domestic workers in the market it takes two months at least for domestic labor offices to offer domestic help upon request.

In the midst of this, advertisements are published about housemaids 'for sale'. In other words transferring sponsorship by those who pay more as if it is a commodity is sold in auction irrespective of the efficiency of the housemaids.

Some people also take the advantage of recruitment from outside the offices for between KD 500 and KD 650.
