UAE-South Korean Joint Economic Committee holds preparatory meeting

ABU DHABI, 29th May 2016 (WAM) --- Emirati and South Korean officials today discussed preparations for the fifth meeting of the UAE-South Korea Joint Committee, to be held tomorrow in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE Minister of Economy, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, and South Korea's Minister of Strategy and Finance, Yoo Il-ho, co-chair the committee joint committee.

The preparatory meeting, which was co-chaired by Mohammed Ahmed Al Shehhi, Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Economy, included eight roundtables focusing on prioritised sectors including industry, advanced technology, nuclear energy, innovation, scientific research, logistics services, water, intellectual property, SMEs, aviation, financial services, healthcare and tourism. These priority sectors are seen as vital for strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

Al Shehhi said the committee will build on its previous meeting to shed light on new opportunities for stronger cooperation based on the development priorities set by the two countries.

He noted that representatives of the public and private sectors discussed ways of forging partnerships in the targeted sectors.
