(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Examinations for Grade 12 students across Abu Dhabi's public and private schools with the Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum and Adult Education centres began on Sunday.
According to the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec), the exams are scheduled from May 29 till June 7 for science students, till June 9 for literature students and from June 21-27 for students who have postponed or are repeating exams. On the first day, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Adec's School Operations executive-director and Hamad Al Dhaheri, Adec's Private Schools and Quality Assurance executive director, toured two Cycle 3 schools - Al Itihad Boys School and Aisha Bint Abu Baqer Girls School - to ensure examinations were conducted smoothly. "I want to thank all Cycle 3 schools for ensuring the overall environment for Grade 12 students is suitable. I'd also like to laud invigilators for doing a great job in preparing for the first day of examinations, while helping students when needed," said Mohammed Al Dhaheri. At Aisha Bint Abu Baqer Girls School, 82 literature and 93 science students began their exams on Sunday. Additionally, 82 students from the Belarus MoE Private School and 93 students from the Manhal MoE Private School wrote their exams at Aisha Bin Abu Baqer School. At Al Itihad Boys School, 78 science and 85 literature students sat for the exams on Sunday. Another 83 students from the Emirates National School (private MoE school) and 54 students from Adult Education also took their test at the school. At both schools, exams began at 8.30am for two hours. "The education council has noticed that overall grades amongst Grade 12 students have profoundly improved this year. We are confident that students will continue to progress, and wish them the very best. We will always back them up and are extremely proud of them," said Mohammed Al Dhaheri. Throughout the emirate's public schools, there are 7,633 Grade 12 students in Abu Dhabi, 6,066 in Al Ain and 1,034 in the Western Region taking their exams. Their tests are supervised by 98 invigilators. As for MoE curriculum private schools, there are 3,390 students taking exams: 2,101 science and 1,289 literature students. Most of them, 1,953 students are in Abu Dhabi (957 girls and 996 boys) and 1,437 are in Al Ain (638 girls and 799 boys). For all of them, exam results will be announced on June 30.
