Egypt- Press Syndicate head, senior members summoned for investigation

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Central Cairo prosecution authorities summoned Yehia Qalash, head of the Press Syndicate, along with Secretary-General Gamal Abdel Reheem and head of the Freedoms' Committee Khaled El-Balshy for interrogation on Sunday.

The summons will look into events that took place earlier this month in which police forces stormed the syndicate to arrest journalists Amr Badr and Mahmoud El-Saqa, and the series of escalating actions taken by journalists, that were outraged by the incident, that followed.

The syndicate said they sent a memorandum to the prosecutor-general to highlight previous complaints filed by the syndicate against police in the same case. They highlighted that, in the wake of their questioning, these reports remained uninvestigated, according to Al-Bedaiah news website on Saturday.
