M5.2 earthquake hits Algeria

ALGIERS, 29th May, 2016 (WAM) -- An earthquake, preliminarily estimated at 5.2 on the Richter scale, hit the Bouira region of Algeria early Sunday morning near the town of Lakhdaria, approximately 56 kilometers south of Algiers.

The Research Centre in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics, CRAAG, said that the epicentre of the quake was located at a depth of 10 kilometres. There have been no reports so far of damage or injuries caused.
