UAE- Al Qubaisi visits Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation

ABU DHABI, 29th May, 2016 (WAM) -- Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, is leading an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation from May 29th to 4th June in order to discuss issues of common interest to keep pace with the remarkable evolution witnessed in the relations between the UAE and the two states.

The FNC delegation includes members of the Parliamentary Friendship Commission, Abdul Aziz Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Second Deputy Speaker of the FNC, Dr. Saeed Abdullah Al Mutawa, Jamal Mohammed Al Hai and Khalfan Abdullah Salem Humaid bin Youkha and Afra Rashid Al Basti.

The visit to Kazakhstan comes in response to an official invitation by Baktykozha Izmukhambetov, Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan to Dr. Al Qubaisi to participate in an International Conference to be hosted by Kazakhstan entitled, "Kazakhstan's way to a nuclear weapon-free world", to mark the 16th anniversary of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site's closure. The symposium will be organised by the country's Foreign Ministry.

The delegation is going also to participate in the 1st meetings of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between the two councils, which aims to activate and develop the existing relations between the two countries and strengthening parliamentary relations, as well as to briefed on the experiences of both countries through activating bilateral visits so as to contribute to the coordination of visions on various issues through the participation in international parliamentary events.

The event will be attended by high-ranking representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, Kazakh lawmakers and Cabinet Ministers, the heads of scientific and research centres concerned with nuclear non-proliferation, diplomats and members of international organisations, and local and foreign journalists.
