Sony's PlayStation 4 sales hit 40m so far


(MENAFN) Sony has declared that its PlayStation 4 sales have exceeded 40 million units, which is 5mn more than the 35mn milestone Sony last revealed publicly less than six months ago.

In accordance, it's very clear that the Japanese tech giant is still way ahead of Microsoft's Xbox One sales, placing it firmly at the top of the current games console market.

The Redmond-based behemoth hasn't been sharing Xbox One sales recently, but EA approximations revealed Microsoft's console sales were around the 19 million mark back in January.

All eyes are now on Sony and Microsoft heading into E3 next month, as both companies are forecasted to announce new console hardware at their press events in June.

In particular, rumors suggest Microsoft will opt for a slim version of its Xbox One console, while Sony is expected to launch a PS4 "Neo" with better graphics and smoother gameplay.
