Qatar- QE index drops 97.48 points during past trading week


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: Qatar Exchange (QE) benchmark index dropped 97.48 points, or 0.99 percent, during the last trading week when the bourse closed yesterday at 9,716.48 points.

Trading value during the week decreased by 40.51 percent to reach about QR794.34m compared to about QR1.34bn. Trading volume decreased by 48.91 percent to reach about 21.98 million shares, as against about 43.02 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 27.99 percent, to reach 16,217 transactions as compared to 22,522 transactions.

Market cap fell by 0.26 percent to reach about QR526.71bn as compared to about QR528.07bn at the end of the previous week.

Industries sector led traded value during the week with 35.21 percent of the total traded value. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 25.81percent. Telecom sector accounted for 10.83 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 10.68 percent.

Industries sector led traded volume with 28.13 percent of the total. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 26.73 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 18.31 percent and Telecoms sector accounted for 10.66percent.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded number of transactions with 24.93percent of the total. Industrials sector accounted for 23.22percent. The Telecoms sector ranked third, accounting for 19.87percent, and followed by Real Estate sector, which accounted for 13.57percent.
