This expansion of the sales department has been driven by increased demand for excavator final drive motors. According to president and founder Austin Davis, “When construction equipment breaks down, every hour can represent a substantial cost to the contractor. Machines don’t break down when you expect them to, or when it is convenient for our customers.”
Mr. Davis explains that it is often a complicated process to match the right aftermarket motor to the machine. Manufacturers sometimes change the final drive motors used in production from one year to the next; or as they make changes to machines with the same model number/name. Simple design changes, such as the number of bolts used to mount the final drive motor or the connection fittings can cause frustration for customers trying to buy the right motor and get it installed quickly.
“Most customers can’t just click and buy the right final drive motor to meet their needs. It is imperative that our customer service team be available and knowledgeable to guide the replacement process” Mr. Davis goes on to say. He notes that customers are increasingly focused on cost and speed of delivery for replacement parts. “The one or two days of down time we can save our customers by extending our customer service support into evenings and weekends can represent a substantial savings for them.”
In addition to extending customer support hours, the company has initiated a lifetime limited warranty program, which is an industry first. Mr. Davis adds, “Our customers deserved a better warranty than what the current industry was offering, so we established our own warranty terms. A lifetime warranty was what our employees decided they would want if they purchased the product for their own machine.”
