UAE- WATCH: Tesla autopilot drives 'asleep' driver in traffic

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Did this man fall asleep behind the wheel of a Tesla car, the internet has been asking after a video of a man, seemingly asleep, went viral online.

Uploaded on May 23, by Electrek.co, the video shows a man being driven around in a blue Tesla's by the car's state-of-the-art autopilot system, while the man appears to have dozed off in the driving seat. The video had garnered 678,000 plus views on YouTube, at the time of filing this report.

The Autopilot's Autosteer and active cruise control appear to be moving the vehicle in heavy traffic, Electrek reported.

According to reports, experts have been skeptical about the video stating that Tesla's autopilot periodically requires input from the driver.

'It's simple stuff, just touch the steering wheel when the car makes a buzzer alarm. If you don't let the car know that you're awake, the car continues to beep loudly to wake you up, and if that doesn't work, the car rolls to a stop.' - Jalopnik

If this man isreally asleep, the car wouldn't accelerate like it does in the video; it would just stop.

Recently, videos of Tesla's 'cool' autopilot in action have been making the rounds on the internet, with the system saving one driver's life by avoiding a collisionwith an oncoming truck - while one elderly woman could not believe that the car was driving itself!

Tesla's autopilotwill emit a sound and decelerate if the driver ignores the warning, while activating the hazard lights and moving the vehicle to the side of the road.

So, is the driver awake or asleep? Watch the video and decide:
