(MENAFN- Morocco World News) ;">Rabat – A court in Dubai has declared a verdict in the case of five Moroccan women who kidnapped an acquaintance, tore up her passport, filmed her naked and asked her brother in Morocco for a ransom of MAD 7,000,000.

According to Le Figaro, three of the kidnappers were sentenced to three years' imprisonment, while the two others were given two year sentences. An Ethiopian woman who took part in the crime was also given a two-year prison sentence.

The case dates back to September 19, 2015, when the victim was forcibly dragged into a vehicle as she was waiting for a taxi in Al Nahda District. The young beautician was taken hostage by her abductors who took her to an apartment where she was tortured and filmed naked under threat.

The video was subsequently sent via Whatsapp to her brother in Morocco in attempt to blackmail him and extort a sum of MAD 7,000,000. The brother called a friend of his in Dubai who alerted the police. Local law enforcement immediately launched an investigation into the case.

The six women were arrested at the apartment together with an Egyptian businessman and two other Moroccan women. The hostage, who had been stabbed by one of her kidnappers, was sent to a hospital. The criminals were charged with kidnapping, sequestration, physical violence, blackmailing, making threats and destruction of an official document.
