Ministry of Tourism to launch new taxi booking app in Oman

Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has partnered with Ingenuity Technologies, a leading solutions provider, to launch a new taxi management service in the country soon.

The technology will bring together all the taxi services under one umbrella, stated a press release. The aim is to provide the best travel experience to tourists, locals and expatriates through innovation and technology.

The service will initially be available at select star hotels and at Port Sultan Qaboos. The service will make taxis available to anyone and everyone with a mobile device via a dedicated app, one for the driver and the other for the tourist.

The app is available on Android and iOS operating systems. The company will also provide 2GB subscription to taxi drivers for greater accessibility. The application will provide both the tourist and driver with locations on Google Maps, routes to destinations, and prepayment service. As part of the services, a 24 hour call centre and monitoring room will also be set up to keep track of all the vehicles.

The solution will not only benefit passengers, but will also make it easier for Omani drivers to do their job. Taxi drivers will also be trained in customer service and taught English language to cater to all customers. The drivers will receive certification from IRU once the training is completed.
