US automakers' sales skyrocket as VW suffers

(MENAFN) Shoppers flocked to US car dealerships in April, with most carmakers recording solid sales boosts, plus the emissions scandal impacting Volkswagen took its toll.

Moreover, with most of their new 2016 models out on the lots, General Motors, Ford and the US arm of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, FCA US, all registered their best October in nearly 11 years.

However, German Volkswagen was far away from being good, plagued with own faulty doings, which consist of installing faulty software on its diesel cars to cheat US emissions regulations.

GM, the US market leader, sold up to 263,000 cars and trucks in the cited month, surging 15.9 percent from 2015's same period, while Ford sales grew 13.4 percent y-o-y to 214,000 cars and trucks.
