DOHA: Nawasi — the first camel, equestrian and falcon exhibition in Qatar — opens today at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).

“One hundred companies are taking part in this unique exhibition spread on 5,000sqm exhibition space. They come from various countries such as Italy, Germany, the US, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar,” Moutaz Kamal, Managing Director, Siigns Projects — exhibition’s marketing and Management partner — told The Peninsula yesterday.

One of the main aims of the exhibition, he said, is to introduce consumers to international brands that offer the latest in the fields of camel rearing and racing, equestrian and falconry that’s why they have invited exhibitors from various countries to showcase their products and services.

Leading manufacturers, suppliers, merchandisers, technology solution and service providers that represent the best in the industries related to these well-loved traditional sports and interests in the GCC will be present at the exhibition.

More than the products, the exhibition will also have a strong cultural element as camel, falcon and equine tradition has been very much present in and shared by Qatar and its neighbouring countries.

“There is also the cultural aspect in which we have included a Majlis where there will be poetry and sharing of experiences about this very important part of Qatari culture. Nomas Centre, a Qatari centre which provides education for young Qataris to practice different heritage activities will also be present at the expo,” added Kamal.

The exhibition is open to the public until Friday.
