Former Nobu Executive Chef to Open New Project

(MENAFNEditorial) Chef Nicolas Mazier to Satisfy Void of High-Quality Asian Fare and Time-Honored Tradition in Miami Beach''s Growing West End

MIAMI, FL - Tanuki, Miami Beach''s highly anticipated restaurant at 1080 Alton Road, is set to deliver high-quality Asian cuisine at the hand of esteemed chef Nicolas Mazier. As Executive Chef, Mazier will apply more than a decade of experience from cooking in some of the world''s top kitchens and under master chefs, such as Nobu Matsuhisa, into an expansive three-meal menu, spanning faithful renditions of Imperial favorites and transcending the guest into the era of each recipe''s creation.

"Mazier''s proficiency sets the stage for a serious dining experience," says General Manager Andrew Kaplan, an established name within the restaurant industry by way of his 10 years as the General Manager for Prime One Twelve and Prime Hotel. "His near-fanatical attention to high-quality ingredients and complex-yet-balanced flavor profiles will elevate the concept beyond its original direction to offer ancient recipes in a modern interpretation. In addition, to using local, organic farms and keeping dishes fresh and healthy wherever possible, his standards are high and his sincere interested in making the customer happy makes us very excited to have him as part of our team."

Chef Mazier, born in Toulouse and raised in Marseille, is accomplished beyond his 30 years. Having trained under prestigious French chef/owner Dominique Ferrard of the award-winning Les Trois Fort located within Marseille''s five-star Sofitel Hotel Vieux Port, he was primed for his next steps in the United States: beginning a career with Nobu Restaurants. Spotting a rising star, chef Nobu himself offered Mazier the opportunity to open Nobu Perth in Australia, serving as the restaurant''s Chef de Cuisine and attaining numerous accolades including the "2012 Western Australia Metropolitan Asian Restaurant Winner" award - which fueled chef Nobu''s confidence in lazier to be part of the opening team for Nobu Caesar in Las Vegas. With consistent efforts, Mazier was promoted to Executive Chef and four years later, was asked to once again return to Miami Beach to open Nobu''s newest location within the Nobu Hotel-Eden Roc, this time as the Executive Chef. Upon opening its doors, he immediately received both public and media praise for his precision, poise and leadership in the kitchen. Marrying his classical technique and expert training with pacific seafood and the finest meats from around the world, Mazier''s knowledge is now set to string through into Tank''s expansive menu.

"Tanuki is a new chapter in my culinary journey and am thrilled to be incorporating my skills to open the restaurant with such an accomplished team that is driven to provide only the best product and service in the city," adds chef Mazier. "It is my hope that our interpretation of Asian cuisine reflects the energy of the city and also opens a new chapter for the dining scene as we offer our guests a taste of time-honored Japanese imperial recipes and a truly enjoyable and affordable experience."

Tanuki is located at 1080 Alton Road and is set to open Summer 2016. For more information, visit www.tanukimiami.com
