Honouring an Oriental art that is at least 25 centuries old, the amazing the Golden Acrobats have brought China's acrobatic traditions to thousands of people around the world over the past five decades.

As China's leading acrobatic touring company, the award-winning Golden Dragon Acrobats are renowned for their fluid grace and spellbinding beauty in the performance of powerful and astonishing athletic feats while skillfully balancing and spinning objects.

Chinese acrobatics began to evolve during China's Warring States Period (475BC-221BC) from the tools and objects used in ordinary work, such as chairs, jars, plates and bowls, which came to be used as performance props. Acrobatics as an art form was influenced by the powerful moves and stances of China's martial arts and by the graceful rounded forms of Chinese classical dance which are based on reverence for the heavens. Classical dance was believed to be a divine gift bestowed during the mythical era when deities dwelt on earth among human beings. Dancers must be pure of heart and of upright moral character to express in dance the essence of Chinese culture and the majestic sweep of 5,000 years of Chinese history.

In spectacular costumes, the Golden Acrobats combine breathtaking acrobatic feats with traditional dance set to ancient as well as contemporary music. The company's superb choreography is created by Angelia Chang, prima ballerina with Shen Yun, a New York-based Chinese classical dance company. With the Golden Acrobat performances, ROHM's 2015-16 World Class Quality Season comes to an exciting conclusion. ROHM will host two Golden Acrobat performances on Tuesday and Wednesday, both at 7.30pm.
