Turkey- Air operations eliminate PKK targets in N.Iraq


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) >The Turkish Air Forces conducted an air operation in northern Iraq early Monday, destroying PKK targets, according to security sources.

The targets, including shelters, camps, and weapons caches, were destroyed in a region called Metina at 04:30 - 05:30 a.m. Turkish time (01:30-02:30GMT), an Anadolu Agency correspondent learned from security sources speaking on condition of anonymity due to not being authorized to speak to the media.

After eliminating their targets, the planes went safely back to their bases .

The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 460 members of the security forces, including troops, police officers and village guards, have been martyred, and over 4,500 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
