13 Qaeda militants killed in eastern Yemen

Aden: 13 militants believed to be belonging to Al Qaeda organization were killed today in clashes with the army in the Yemeni eastern governorate of Hadhramaut.

A military source in the governorate said army troops attacked a group of Qaeda militants in Al Rawkab area, east of Hadhramaut's capital of Al Mukalla. The fierce clashed that ranged between the two sides resulted in the killing of 13 Qaeda members and two army members.

The source added that the offensive came as part of an intensive campaign carried by out by army forces against Al Qaeda cells which are still active in areas surrounding the city.

Over the past weeks army forces, with the support of the Arab coalition, managed to purge a number of Hadhramaut governorate's cities most important of which was Al Mukalla.
