Italy, Iran take 1st real step to revive ties


(MENAFN) National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has announced the resumption of crude oil sales to Italian Saras SpA, signifying the first real step to reinvigorating bilateral relations.

Consequently, the first shipment of crude oil will soon be delivered to the Italian company, and based on the preliminary contract; 60,000-65,000 barrels of oil per day will be sold to Saras.

According to Iranian officials, the deal begins with a daily amount of 30,000 to 35,000 barrels while the figure would reach a high of 65,000 barrels in the absence of obstacles.

Additionally, nearly 30 to 35 percent of Iran's crude sales are currently bound for European markets, not to mention that oil export is expected to reach 600,000 barrels per day.
