Saudi- Erdogan appoints newly elected ruling party chief as prime minister

Istanbul, Sha'aban 15, 1437, May 22, 2016, SPA -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appointed Binali Yildirim, the newly elected leader of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), as prime minister, giving him mandate to form a cabinet, the Turkish presidency announced.
The presidency said that, earlier in the day, Erdogan received outgoing prime minister Ahmet Dout oglu who surrendered his resignation to the President.
The statement added that the Turkish President assigned Oglu to run the government until a new administration is in office.
The new cabinet is expected by mid-next week.
