LISBON, Portugal, Sha'ban 16, 1437, May 23, 2016, SPA -- Braga defeated Porto 4-2 in a penalty shootout to win the Portuguese Cup on Sunday, 50 years after its only previous title.
Goalkeeper Jose Carlos Marafona saved two penalties in the shootout to give Braga the upset win after the teams drew 2-2 following extra time, according to AP.
Rui Fonte and Josue put Braga ahead in the 12th and 58th minutes, but Andre Silva scored in the 61st and with a remarkable half-bicycle kick in the 90th to keep alive Porto's chances of winning a title this season.
After a third-place finish in the Portuguese league, Porto was trying to win its 17th Cup title.
Braga lost last year's Cup final to Sporting Lisbon. It had been runner-up three other times since winning the trophy in 1966.
