UAE- Filipina refuses to accept her baby is illicit

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Despite having delivered a baby recently, a Filipino woman has denied having an illicit relationship that resulted in the child.

The Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance has charged the 33-year old woman - identified as J.B.D.G - with adultery and illicit relations. When judge Yousuf Al Hamadi asked her if she had an illicit relationship, she smiled and said no.

During interrogation, the five-year UAE expat said she was sponsored by a UAE woman, but ran away after a month.

The woman came to a police station after receiving a letter from the Philippine Consulate after having the child.

The woman said she had been living in a flat in Jamal Abdul Nasser Street in Sharjah, and noted that she didn't go to the hospital during her pregnancy because she was frightened and didn't know the father.

She later recounted that part of the story and gave the name of a man who fled the country after learning of the pregnancy.

The woman said she had been living in a shared accommodation, and twice had non-consensual sex. Her husband is in the Philippines. The case was adjourned for judgment at end of June.
