Jordan participates in World Health Assembly 69th session


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 22 (Petra) -- Health Minister, Ali Hiasat, led a senior Jordanian delegation to Geneva, Switzerland to partake in the 69th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) set to begin tomorrow under the theme "Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." The WHA is the supreme governing body of the World Health Organization (WHO), representing over 194 countries. It brings together WHO Member States to address global health issues.

Ministry Spokesperson, Hatem Azrui, said the session's agenda includes topics on non-communicable diseases and the global plan of action on violence and the prevention of chronic diseases.

The minister will hold meetings with a number of his counterparts to discuss cooperation between Jordan and international bodies and health organizations, Azrui added.

He also said the minister will meet Oman's health minister, to sign a cooperation memo on primary health care, pharmacy, medicine, food, health education, health legislation and the exchange of visits of specialized medical teams.
