Kuwait- Sixteen IS members killed in raids southern Mosul, Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, May 22 (KUNA) -- At least 16 militants of the so-called Islamic State (IS) were killed in raids executed by the international coalition in southern Mosul, Iraq.

Among the dead was leader Sheikh Ibrahim, Iraqi police sources told KUNA on Sunday. They added that the group were hiding at a building which was used to launch terrorist attacks on several locations at Makhmur district.

The Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces have launched a joint military operation against IS last March, aiming to regain control over Mosul.(end) sbr.ag
