Samsung Q1 smartphone sales tops Apple sales


(MENAFN) Samsung Elect Co. took the lead in the global smartphone market in Q1 of the year on new product lineup.

The firm sold 81.18mn smartphone units around the world in the Jan-March period, taking up 23.2 percent of the total.

On the other hand, Apple Inc. accounted for 14.8 percent of the global smartphone market to ship 51.62mn units among Q1.

Samsung's Galaxy S7 series phones positioned it a strong competitor in the smartphone market.
