(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, May 20 (KUNA) -- Iraq's Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi has ordered lifting a curfew that was imposed in Baghdad earlier Friday, the official Iraqia TV said.
Al-Abadi, who is the General Commander of the Armed Forces, took the decision after a visit to the Command's premises where he met with several security commanders, according to a government statement.
The Command said in a statement that the "riots" near the heavilfy-fortified Green Zone were "fully controlled." Meanwhile, medical sources said that 80 people were injured in the violence that ensued during the storming attempt, among them seven journalists. Most of them suffered suffocation or bruises.
The Green Zone houses parliament, government buildings and many foreign embassies. (end) ahh.bsr.msa
