Gartner's WPs' results in Q1 matches Microsoft's figures

(MENAFN) Gartner reported that sales of Windows phones (WPs) fell precipitously, down from an already low 2.5pct in the first quarter of 2015 to a paltry 0.7pct last quarter.

Accordingly, looking at the numbers, it's no surprise that the Redmond-based giant is putting some effort into making sure its various solutions work with Android devices.

So basically, Microsoft has come to realize that just bluntly ignoring a platform that represents nearly 85 percent of the market would be a very bad idea, and now more than ever.

These results should come as no surprise as Microsoft's own financial results told the same story, hence WPs are clearly on hiatus, at least until Microsoft releases the highly anticipated Surface Phone.
