Egyptair Plane From Paris Crashes with 66 Passengers on Board


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) An EgyptAir flight from Paris to Cairo with 66 passengers and crew on board crashed in the Mediterranean Sea early Thursday morning, Egyptian aviation officials said.

The aviation officials later said the plane crashed and that a search for debris was underway.

Egypt’s prime minister said it was too early to say whether the crash was the result of a major technical failure or a terrorist attack. “We cannot rule anything out,” he stressed.

According to BBC, the passengers on board of the plane were only 66, “30 Egyptians, 15 French, two Iraqis, one Briton, one Kuwaiti, one Saudi, one Sudanese, one Chadian, one Portuguese, one Belgian, one Algerian and one Canadian in addition to 10 crew members.

French President Francois Hollande said “It was feared that this plane had crashed. The information that we have managed to gather confirm alas that this plane has crashed, and it has disappeared. 66 passengers were on board, including the crew and security personnel. Among the passengers there were 15 French citizens. A crisis cell was actioned immediately.”
