Philippine logs 6.9pct in GDP over Q1


(MENAFN) The Philippines' GDP development throughout the first three months touched 6.9 percent, surpassing average consensus projection of 6.6 percent, based on the latest reports.

In accordance, the 1st quarter performance of the economy raises the likelihood of achieving the official GDP forecast of 6.8 to 7.8pct for full-year 2016, in spite the weak agriculture and fishery segment.

Additionally, top economic agencies across the country have attributed the robust progress to increasing investment and construction, not to mention gains in the industry and service sectors.

Meanwhile, the agriculture division stays a poor performer, as for the mentioned timeframe of this year, it contracted by 4.4 percent, coming from almost stagnation through the previous year.
