Thailand, Iran partner to attain USD5b in trade relations


(MENAFN) Thailand is seeking to join forces with Iran as soon as the sanctions gets lifted with the ultimate goal of bringing the trade transactions to a whopping USD5 billion from the current USD356 million.

Thailand realizes the crucial importance of Iran's strategic location which can provide access to 700-string Eurasian market; therefore with the right policies and mutual measures, they both can flourish.

Thailand is yet another country to join the long list of eager nations, who want to cooperate with the Islamic republic, and it's worth mentioning that the Southeast Asian Kingdom is eying Iran's energy sector in particular.

Moreover, 75 percent of Thailand's electrical generation is powered by natural gas in, and coal-fired power plants produce an additional 20 percent of electricity, with the remainder coming from biomass and biogas.
