Vacation turns tragic as father, son die in Dubai crash


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 45-year-old Indian hailing from Kerala's Thrissur district, and his nine-year-old son were killed in a traffic accident that took place on Monday night in the Muhaisina area of Dubai. The younger son sustained serious injuries while the mother sustained moderate injuries.

The director of Al Qusais Police Station, Colonel Ahmed Thani bin Ghalita, said the operations room of the Dubai Police received information that an accident had happened at the Muhaisina industrial area.

A 4WD coming from a bridge in the area, hit the saloon car driven by the Indian man who was accompanied by his family. The car then hit the road dividers and the victims were trapped inside the vehicle. Police officials had to take the help of the hard task and the rescue team to release them. Col bin Ghalita said during the police interrogation, the young driver who caused the accident denied that he had been over speeding.

He added that he was trying to avoid another car and in the process hit the car driven by the victim. The wife and the two sons had come to Dubai on a visit visa to see their father who worked in Dubai.

They were supposed to return to India on May 28, before the schools there opened. The mother and the younger son have been shifted to Rashid Hospital, while the bodies of the father and the elder son have been shifted to the General Department of Forensic Medicine and will be handed over to relatives after completion of procedures.
