Morocco- Moroccan Police to Change Its Look


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco's Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announcedon Mondaythat Moroccan police officers are being issued updated uniforms which will be worn by the end of this year.

During the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Moroccan police, the Directorate announced the introduction of a newly updated police uniform that will be more modern and practical and in line with the Directorate's standards.

According to a statement delivered on behalf of the DGSN at the Royal Institute of Police, the new uniform will be issued to national level security details beginning in October of this year.

At the same time, the Directorate of National Security renewed and strengthened the police’s fleet of more than a thousand cars and motorcycles.

The Directorate also announced the creation of new teams linked to National Security in order to fight violent crime and maintain peace in certain cities with high crime rates like Fez and Sale, near Rabat.

Named “Group for Research and Intervention” (GRI), the new group, which has undergone intensive training, will specialize in arresting dangerous individuals who pose a threat to security in public places.

Following his appointment as Director of National Security Body (DGSN) last May, Abdellatif Hammouchi unveiled his plan to establish a strategic body for the maintenance of peace and security in the country. He has introduced many reforms that aim to enhance the performance of the Moroccan police.

Last July, the director of National Security gave strict instructions to end nepotism in recruitment for the national security force.

The directorate also upgraded Morocco's police cars to improve the image and efficacy of the Moroccan police.
