Omantel launches 'Saloon Maan' for SME videoconferencing

Omantel, the sultanate's first telecoms provider has recently launched 'Saloon Maan', an initiative that provides videoconferencing solutions for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada).

Saloon Maan forms part of Omantel's transformative 3.0 strategy to build digital society and to launch innovative business and eGovernment services throughout 2016 and beyond.

Commenting on Omantel's partnership with OCCI and Riyada, Omantel CEO Talal al Mamari noted, 'We believe that through mobility and connectivity services, our society can be transformed. Joining hands with OCCI and Riyada represents a further step in the realisation of our vision for Oman, to become a truly networked society, where every person and every industry is empowered to reach their full potential.'

He added, 'At Omantel, the SME sector is an area very close to our hearts and we have supported a number sector initiatives over the years. SMEs play a key role in the diversified economy of the future, so it is our responsibility as one of Oman's largest brands to support their growth. We are pleased to join hands with OCCI and Riyada to present Saloon Maan, a tool that will help to facilitate the growth of individual businesses and thus the sector at large by assisting entrepreneurs to hold meetings remotely addition to online training and events.

'As we move towards an innovation based economy in Oman, it is imperative that entrepreneurs and small business operators have access to relevant digital services, independent of their location. In making this partnership with OCCI and Riyada, we plan to maintain and grow our position as the digital partner of choice in the sultanate in the years ahead.'

Khalifa Said al Abri, CEO of Riyada commented, 'For us, it has always been an objective to establish videoconferencing facilities for our members throughout Oman, whereby SME representatives and entrepreneurs can connect with one another, attend lectures and easily talk with prospective customers or suppliers in Oman, or anywhere in the world. The medium of videoconferencing means that as well as voice capabilities, our members can show their products and visuals easily and speed up the discussion process.'

Riyada is the sultanate's arm for SME development and aims to strengthen their contribution to the local economy through a wide range of business advisory services and training programmes. Riyada conducts various programmes and events aimed to support and develop small and medium enterprises through support, consultancy, technical training courses, workshops, field visits and mentorship programmes.
