Afghanistan puts great faith in Iranian joint ties

(MENAFN) Afghanistan has just joined the long list of the nations that are anxious to jump in the lucrative oil/gas business with Iran, as it has revealed its willingness to import one million tons of diesel yearly.

Additionally, Afghanistan currently imports nearly 200,000 tons of diesel from the oil-rich country annually and this figure is set to be raised as soon as a deal is reached on its price for the long run.

Afghanistan is an impoverished least developed country, one of the world's poorest because of decades of war and lack of foreign investment, and as of 2014, and the nation's GDP stands at about USD60.58 billion.

The country's exports totaled USD2.7 billion in 2012, and according to a 2009 report, about 42 percent of the population lives on less than USD1 a day, but the nation has less than USD1.5bn in external debt.
